Assignment: - Description: English, 10th grade, at or above grade level - Objective, Model: Student should be able to identify Edgar Allan Poe and understand the definitions of the vocabulary words by the end of the lesson with 100% accuracy. I will ask students if any of these words could be broken down to reveal their meaning. (Con – against. Ance – the act of. tion- act of being in the state of. lit-literacy.) - Model: After explaining the definition of morphemes, I will ask students if any of these words could be broken down to reveal their meaning. - Guided Practice: As a review for midterms or finals, have students watch multiple clips like this one on different authors and literary pieces. Each student will write the author they believe the clip is about on a white board and hold up their answer before the author is revealed. - Independent Practice: Have students complete a study guide of all the authors, terms, and literature that will be on the exam at home and during extra class time. - Assessment: The cumulative assessment will the midterm/final exam complete with a short essay response.
